Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a branch of traditional medicine that is said to be based on more than 3,500 years of Chinese medical practice that includes various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping therapy, gua sha, massage (tui na), bonesetter (die-da), exercise (qigong), and dietary therapy.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through the skin at strategic points on the body to balance the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — which flows through pathways (meridians) in the body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.
